I Am Afraid of Failing as the First Graduate in My Family

Carrying family expectations can feel overwhelming, especially as the first graduate. But it’s important to understand that you cannot solve everything overnight. Take one step at a time, do your best, and trust the process. Success doesn’t come in a single day. Even if you stumble, remember that your achievement already inspires your family. Don’t let pressure steal your joy, your journey has just begun. All The BEST!!!

Below 👇 is the message I got...

Hi, please share this for me. I am 24, and I’m about to graduate from university as the first person in my entire family to do so. Everyone has so many expectations from me, my parents, my siblings, even my extended family. They believe once I graduate, I’ll land a good job immediately, lift the family out of poverty, and sponsor my younger siblings.

I’m proud of myself, but the pressure is overwhelming. The job market is tough, and I don’t know if I can meet all their expectations right away. Sometimes I can’t even sleep at night because I feel like the entire weight of the family is on my shoulders.

What advice do you have for someone like me? How do I manage this pressure without disappointing my family or breaking down?

Give her you 2cent and some encouragement...
