Dhanraj tells Banni that Yuvan lost his mother in an accident when he was seven years old, and his mental growth stopped from that moment. He explains that they tried many treatments, but nothing worked.
Meanwhile, Kalpana and her sister disguise themselves as ghosts and frighten Yuvan, asking if he remembers what they did to his mother.
Banni finishes preparing the pooja bhog. Dhanraj thanks her and says now it is his turn to complete a difficult task — bringing Yuvan downstairs for the pooja, as he has not attended one in fifteen years. Banni says she will try and walks to Yuvan’s room with a glass of milk.
She finds Yuvan shivering in fear and asks him to have food. Yuvan refuses and says he will not eat, otherwise the ghosts who killed his mother will kill him too.
At that moment, Veer notices a broken showpiece and angrily asks who did it. Myra tells him Yuvan broke it. Veer storms into Yuvan’s room, shouting. Yuvan gets scared and pees in fear. Myra and Kalpana enter the room and start humiliating him.
Veer raises his hand to slap Yuvan, but Banni stops him. Veer asks who she is. Banni introduces herself and says she brought food for Yuvan. She warns him not to accuse Yuvan without proper investigation. She then tells everyone to leave as she needs to take Yuvan down for the pooja.
Myra says Banni cannot take him down. Yuvan says the ghosts will punish him if he goes. Banni tells him she knows how to deal with ghosts and throws water on Myra, pretending to drive them away. Myra gets angry and tries to attack her, but Banni twists her hand. Veer steps forward to hit Banni, but she twists his hand too and warns them both to leave.
Dhanraj watches everything and thinks only Banni has the strength to handle his family.
Banni then asks Yuvan to get ready for the pooja. He comes out wearing a kurta-pajama. Myra smiles and says he looks good. Holding his hand, she walks him down to the living room for the pooja.
Kalpana and her sister whisper to each other that Malini will scold them if she sees Yuvan attending the pooja. Yuvan looks at the bhog kheer and feels tempted to eat it. Banni stops him and says he will get the whole bowl if he quietly sits through the pooja. Yuvan agrees. Banni sings a bhajan as the ritual begins.
Malini returns home and stands shocked to see Yuvan sitting at the pooja. She becomes furious and says she expected her family to obey her orders and not let Yuvan come down. She demands to know who brought him there.
Dhanraj nervously tries to explain, but Banni interrupts and says she brought Yuvan down. Malini asks who she is. Banni introduces herself, saying she brought food for Yuvan, prepared the bhog, and got him ready for the pooja.
Malini gets angry at Dhanraj for breaking his own rule and allowing an outsider, a cheap girl, to prepare the bhog. Banni warns Malini not to insult her, saying she is also a businesswoman just like her.
Malini then turns her anger toward Yuvan. He trembles in fear and apologizes to his stepmother. Banni defends him and says Malini should not ruin the name of stepmothers. She scolds the family for their attitude and reminds them how they all refused to prepare bhog when Dhanraj requested them.
Banni says she understands Yuvan’s pain because she too doesn’t have a mother. Dhanraj adds that this is the first time in fifteen years that Yuvan has come down for pooja since his mother passed away.
Malini says the pooja will happen just like Yuvan’s mother used to perform it. Banni replies that at least Malini has now realized the value of a stepmother. She makes Yuvan sit in front of the havan, and Panditji begins the ritual.
Malini pours an entire bowl of ghee into the fire, making the flames rise high, and then calls in the sadhus to play loud drums and music. The loud noise and fire frighten Yuvan. He starts panicking, while Banni and Dhanraj try to calm him. Malini smirks watching the chaos.
