The Whisper

Chapter 66: Facing the Betrayer

The control platform loomed above the chamber, a precarious perch that the traitor used to command his loyalists. Every movement from the hunters was met with calculated counters, and the room seemed to shrink with tension.

“He thinks he’s untouchable up there,” Damien muttered, scanning the approach. “But altitude doesn’t save him from consequences.”

Lila’s eyes narrowed. “We end this tonight. No hesitation, no second chances.”

The hunters split into coordinated units. Some engaged the remaining loyalists directly, clearing paths and covering flanks, while Lila and Damien focused on the traitor.

“Step down and surrender!” Lila shouted, her voice echoing through the chamber. “It’s over!”

The traitor laughed, a sharp, grating sound. “Over? You have no idea what’s coming. Even if I fall tonight, I’ve set things in motion you can’t even imagine.”

Damien fired a well-aimed shot, knocking a control panel near the platform loose, sending sparks flying. The traitor stumbled but recovered instantly, smirking. “Predictable.”

Lila darted forward, weaving through debris and fallen loyalists. Every strike was precise, every move calculated. She closed the distance between herself and the traitor with deadly intent.

But just as she reached the platform, the traitor triggered a hidden mechanism. The floor trembled and the platform tilted dangerously, threatening to throw both off balance.

“We need to end this now!” Damien yelled, rushing to support her.

In the chaos, Lila’s focus sharpened. One swift maneuver, one precise move, and she disarmed the traitor, sending him sprawling to the floor. The remaining loyalists, now leaderless, hesitated — and that hesitation was all the hunters needed.

“This is it,” Lila said, voice cold and unwavering. “No more games.”

The traitor’s smirk faltered. For the first time, he realized the hunters had taken full control of the battlefield. The tables had turned, and the hunter had become the hunted.
