Jason watched the clip of Amara’s stumble at the gala again and again, a grin spreading across his face. The reporter’s question had cracked her perfect image, if only for a moment. To Jason, that moment was everything.

“People don’t want perfection,” he muttered, swirling a glass of whiskey. “They want blood. And if she bleeds even once, they’ll circle her like sharks.”

His phone buzzed. It was a contact from one of the major media networks.
“We saw the clip. Interest in Amara is peaking,” the producer said. “If you’ve got a story… now’s the time.”
