Darius appeared beside her, towering in his crisp tuxedo, his presence a shield against the storm. “Don’t waste your energy on gossip,” he said, sliding her phone from her fingers gently. “They thrive on making you doubt yourself.”
Amara searched his eyes, needing reassurance. “But what if the Crown Table believes it?”
“They won’t. And even if they do” he paused, voice deep and resolute, “I will never believe it. That’s all that matters.”
