Jason slammed his glass against the bar, amber liquid sloshing dangerously close to the rim. The dim lounge buzzed with chatter, but his fury drowned out everything.
“She walks around like she’s untouchable,” he spat to his companion a journalist known for spinning truths into knives. “I built that woman. I gave her everything. And now she parades with Darius as if I never existed.”
The journalist smirked. “Sounds like a story worth telling.”
Jason leaned closer, venom in his voice. “Then tell it. Tell the world she’s a fraud. That her empire is built on seduction and lies. I’ll supply you with every detail they’ll need.”

But beneath his rage was something darker envy. He had expected Amara to crumble after the divorce. Instead, she was rising higher than ever. And Darius… Darius was everything Jason was not.
As he left the lounge, Jason’s reflection in the mirror glared back at him. If she won’t fall on her own, he thought grimly, then I’ll make sure she does.
