Chapter 14: A Dinner Interrupted
The restaurant was intimate, lit with golden candles and soft jazz curling through the air. Darius had reserved the entire rooftop for them, determined to give Amara a night free from politics and pressure.
“You deserve peace,” he murmured as he poured her wine.

She smiled, relaxing into the velvet of the evening. “With you, I always find it.”
But peace shattered when Jason appeared, uninvited. His voice sliced through the romance like cold steel. “How touching. My ex-wife dining with her knight in shining armor.”
Darius’s jaw tightened, but Amara rose gracefully. “Jason, this isn’t your stage. Leave.”
Jason sneered. “You think he’ll protect you forever? Trust me, Amara, even kings fall.”
Amara stepped closer, eyes flashing. “And queens rise from ashes.”
Jason stormed out, but his interruption left behind a chill. Darius reached across the table, reclaiming her hand. “Don’t let him steal this moment. He doesn’t get to.”
And so they stayed, reclaiming their night. Because even interrupted love was still stronger than Jason’s hate.
