That evening, as rain tapped gently on the windows, Amara and Darius sat before the fireplace. No gala, no schemes, no whispers — just the crackle of burning wood and the weight of unspoken promises.

Amara traced the lines of his hand with her fingertips. “Why do you stay, Darius? With all this chaos, all these lies? You could have walked away a hundred times.”

The words melted into her, burning away the last ashes of doubt. She leaned closer, and under the glow of firelight, she whispered, “Then this is my vow to you: I will never doubt you. Not even if the whole world demands it.”

Their kiss was not fiery, not rushed, but steady, like an eternal flame.
